1) Inconel is commonly used to fabricate F1 exhaust manifolds: CORRECT!


2) Toluene is used as an octane booster, and will increase power on any engine which is not happy running on low octane unleaded fuels: CORRECT!


3) Ford manufactured an XR4x4 which was powered by the 2ltr DOHC 4 cyl engine: CORRECT!


4) Reducing wheel travel by fitting cut down suspension springs, will often result in suspension resting on bump stops during hard cornering, and should a bump be encountered while suspension is bottomed, loss of control can occur: CORRECT!



Just a few instances that demonstrate that many years of practical experience, and the knowledge gained from this, are worth far more than any amount of time searching through Google..........................

Bollocks. All that can easily be found on google. I knew all that anyway, I work in IT, and have never googled any of it. Anyone with more than a passing interest in vehicles and cars knows that.

Actually thats incorrect. You claimed that this was bump steer!

You unfortunately don't seem to have a clue either, that's the concerning thing.

I never knew the Inconel thing, but then F1 is s**te and has been for years, so I haven't bothered taking an interest in what how the manifolds are manufactured.

Even if you were interested in it thought, as a fan, would you really give a f*ck what the manifolds were made of?

So the original post about lowering springs and bump steer has been replaced cut down springs and bump stops.

So, so wrong. Like speeding kills every time, every pair of cut down springs has caused a loss of control.

And in the original post it refered lowered suspension, not necessarily cut springs.

Lowered suspension can be based on airbags, hydraulic systems, shorter uprated springs, coilover spring/dampers, adjustable height spring platform and seperate dampers, recambered leaf springs, turned torsion bars, or cut springs. All of which can (but may not) cause the car to sit on the bump stops. Trimming the bumpstops sorts it as does fitting shorter ones.

It isn't rocket science. You don't see white coats and pocket protectors at Kwikfit.
