That's near where I live! Once saw two Bentley Continental GTs driving at motorway speeds down there, towards Knutsford. I say 'motorway speeds', I was doing 80, they were going 'noticably quicker'.

Just trying to work out where that is.

Hmm. As always it's impossible to know how hard the other guy was trying.

It reminds me of the claimed 240 bhp 1.6 CVH turbo Ka. First off, it never made that sort of power. Second, when it was running at its peek, it didn't do it for long. Third, wheelspin in fourth gear means you are not accelerating that quickly, and finally, FFS if you're going to put a Ka on

18" wheels for goodness sake upgrade the brakes so they don't look stupid.

D'oh. Peek = peak. Mutter mutter mumble...

It be the A50 / Cliff Lane from the M5 interchange towards High Legh / Knutsford. Well, they are travelling from High Legh to the interchange, but it's that road.

Although on some petrol cars with cats, you can tell when they are a WOT, 'cos you can smell it - unburnt fuel passing through a hot cat has a characteristic smell. It's a happy smell.

Or the M6 as some bohemians call it.

It's not as happy as soot.

But regardless, this only works on certain machines. Some ventilation systems detect this before you do and switch air recirculation on. BMW

5-series, anybody? :)

I'll need to look it out and drive it to remember properly. Still can't remember whether I've driven that stretch.
