Oh I agree, yet project wise, it is almost sensible compared to a supercharged 80's Skoda with bike throttle and DIY fuel injection and engine management ;)

You like Skoda's too much for you own good.

Because you have about the same age as me, just think what you like most: pulling and remplacing an Skoda engine, breaking your back with its cast iron block and giving an enormous 80 HP or fiddling with the 70 kg bike engine (gearbox included) which gives too times more power.

I have been there , pulling engines and gearboxes with the car on blocks. I liked it then, for some reason I prefer lighter stuff now or if it is heavy that I can be relatively sure that I don't have to pull it out again 2 months later.

Does remind me that I must not forget to buy another back on of these days.

What cast iron block? Alloy block, iron heads on 5 ports, alloy heads on all 8 ports.

140 achievable on twin carbs and drivable. 160 on injection with throttles, more with forced induction.

Engine aint that heavy. Not bike light, but not bad, and there is no piddling about trying to work out how make a diff work with it.

With a bike engine in the front and the drive at the rear, you remove the drive sprocket and replace it with an adaptor, then you plug your propshaft into the adaptor, job done. Not exactly rocket surgery ;)

Sorry, I still had the engine out back where it belongs and bolts straight from the output shaft onto the transaxle.

Some of the grass track guys etc. use a chain drive to the prop...

Just as simple then, either buy or make a chain driven diff...
