I'm not sure If I would want to make the trade off.

you wont get a nice 20v turbo for 5k
its a common enough engine with the 406, our shop hardly ever recons those, bmw's and honda's are common place ( relatively speaking )
Which are mainly OEM bits in different boxes.
You can have my Audi V6 Quattro for 5500 with full car pc as featured etc :) I recken thats a bargin, and it still drives like new.
Ronny
No and no. Fast, bland looking, but not ugly.
Reliable, good residuals, well equiped, superb build quality.
Another cracker from Honda - especially in 2.2VTEC form.
Very good car. Manic, but fun.
Excellent car - vastly underrated, so cheap.
They are? - there's a few around, but a good one is still well worth having.
Great cars - if a little barge-like.
Decent RWD chassis - you just have to be careful with the loud pedal.
Power is nothing without control.
Still a great car. Would walk all over a Pug 406.
We agree on something, then.
Not the 16v. That's got the excellent Lampredi lump as fitted to the Delta Integrale.
They're different.
Reckon a £5k one could be a little ropey, though.
You'd get a mint 16v, though.
Best looking car on the roads IMHO....
Not all of them. So bits are absolute s**te! Bit of a lucky dip IME
Mileage...?
Still looks nice yea, but it's dated a lot quicker than I expected it to. Looks quite old now (and I drive a Rover ffs, heh).
145k
Good lord...
Do they really sell for over £5k with that kind of miles on?
You don't want one. IIRC it's £1,500 to change the cambelt.
Richard
Nah - it was never that much.
An authorised dealer could do it for about £800 - and there's now a load of specialists that will do it for £400 without removing the engine.
I'd still have the 16v over the 20, though, as they're cheaper to run long-term.
Which is fine if thats what you want. However, not everyone wants to drive around in £500 bangers. People might want the style of a newer car, the comfort, or other things they can't get from a £500 banger.
It's completely driven by vanity and one-upmanship, then. Because my £600 banger is no less comfortable than it's new equivalent.
I'm just getting old mate, I think the Rover 75 is a bit of a looker too :)
Just run in, good for 300k, its not a ford escort remember, full service history, and the car is immaculate, and I dare you to drive mine then get in a brand new mondeo and tell me which one smoother, quieter, etc
Ron
doesnt say too much for the new model.
