Well, I declared the mods to them when getting a quote, because I had fitted the pipe, and the seats and the steering then Churchill told me to *cough* and had 7 days to find insurance.

LV quoted me, with all the mods. Churchill had been TPFT, LV's quote including all the mods was £40 dearer, but it was upgraded to fully comp with legal, glass, international fully comp, and £300 of stereo gear cover all in.

This is a good reason to get a quote from a broker.

Anyway, once you have your quote, you can go to another insurer and have them attempt to match it. More often than not, they will find a lower price - even when they weren't interested at all before you had a quote. Shopping around is vital.

Well, when I went from the Skoda to the Saab, LV charged me £90 total for the remaining 9 months (56bhp to 185)

On renewal, it came to just under £500 fully comp, for a clean license held for 2 year, aged 34, 2 years no claims.

Closest other quote I could get was £700, most were arround the £8-900, two places wanted £1100, and £1300. With checks spread before and after I got my renewal. The renewal was £200 cheaper than the closest new quote.
