There speaketh a man used to rattle can plastic primer. The kind you shoot through a spraygun is about as thick as etch, and goes on like a matte clearcoat. All it does is allow paint to stick to the bumper, no build at all. The problem with letting paint dry between coats is that you tend to rip it off when you unmask.
