Uber Nerd Facts.
The engine designation was V64V, as in V6 4 Valve. It came in International and Clubmans derivatives. The very first develpment versions were Rover V8s with a couple of cylinders lopped off.

I want call it a 'Nerd Fact' but I'm not entirely sure I'm right, but wasn't there also RWD versions designated 6R2?

Anyway....
Seeing as V64V engines were horrifically expensive to fix, and Rover V8s weren't, it became quite popular to fit a Rover V8 onto a Hewland FG transaxle, giving a 2wd 6R4. Other engines also found their way in there.
That's about it really.

Well the first two are of a car that's a whole lot slower than a 6R4.
The third is a red version of a blue one I had lots of fun with myself, but significantly devalued by some strange blue and white sticker on the door.
The fourth one is dull dull dull.

After GpB was banned there was a Scottish (I think) rally series where the

Mech "You like quick stuff don't you?" Me "Yup" Mech "come for a spin in this thing, I need you to keep an eye on the rev counter, it's got a misfire at 7k" Me "Ok"
Mimbled around in it for about 10 minutes while everything warmed up, felt a bit silly sitting in an extremely silly, insanely noisy GpB rally car, in a
6 point harness, with ear defender / intercom headset on in city traffic.As we approached a set of pedestrian crossing lights the mechanic said "Look at the rev counter, see if it flicks around at 7k rpm. I'll be too busy to watch it".
Lights turned to green and he thrashed it like a red-headed stepchild.

I've been in some stupidly rapid stuff in my time, but that thing was /by far/ the fastest, noisiest, most uncomfortable, basically insane thing I've ever been in. Chirrup from the tyres and it just launched like nothing I've ever experienced - and that includes an 850 bhp, drum braked, '67 Camaro street / strip drag car.
It's a Gartrac G3 MKIII Escrote. (Or a copy of one).
It's the early 80s, everyone still wanted RWD, 4WD rally cars hadn't been invented yet, so Gartrac made shells to take all the oily bits from all the bent and Rusty RWD Escrotes.
Everyone was happy.
In that case, I take back the bit about it being far slower than a 6R4. If it's genuine.
Although the claimed 2.1s 0-60 I found on the web seems to be pushing it a bit for Earth gravity? ISTR hearing more like 2.8s when they were first around?
