That deserves a well exercised "heh" you know.

Sell the Subaru, buy a B5 Passat with Alfa Romeo running gear and a Primera badge, nothing could be quicker.

In my youth the console was a fairly 'personal' pastime, whereas Quakeworld was a massive worldwide thing. I liked my gaming to be against real people who were unpredictable, interactive, abusive & abusable, etc. It wasn't just about gaming, it was about community.

Obviously that's changed these days as the role of consoles has expanded, but I've never really shaken a dislike of them.

Yes. In some circles reading Playboy was a more social activity.

Agreed... however...

There are two good reasons why my Xbox and PlayStation 2 are not linked up to t'internet. My work and my marriage. :-)

I lost too many days playing Air Warrior, or whatever it was called.

From a "morality" point of view you are, of course, quite right - however, for the price of a new xbox 360 game, I can get a good night on the pish or fill my car up ;-)

This may interest Doki, who seemed curious as to what I do, but I am supposed to be whiter than white for work reasons.

Aie! That's why I only have an Xbox then...

My average phone bill was =A3200 to =A3250 per month, playing off peak.

I was a computer programmer for a council at the time so luckily didn't=20 have to worry about little things like needing to be awake during the=20 day. Usually we'd all just be playing Doom on the office network most of=20 the day anyway.

Incidentally, I'm currently taking bets that that information will be dug up by Ken at some future point in a bid to out more geeky "secrets".

I reckon about 4 years of trawling the archives until he finds that post and "outs" me as a coder...

Well I have to put it, but, heh.

I've not played a game where I'm not up against human opposition for years. If you find the right server and become a regular, the banter is still there :)

I just don't get the whole "joypad" thing..

I didn't until Gran Turismo.

I still play Q3, you can quite often find me on the Uber CTF servers

Ah yes, the joypad *spit*. Now I remember why I hated consoles.

Or he recovered but hasn't yet learnt his lesson.

Nah, I'm tellin you that ain't Stevens.

Hmmm, maybe for driving I suppose, but for Quake-style FPS games, mouse is king.

Agreed. Personally for me they have never improved on the N64 Joypad. But for FPS action, keyboard and mouse are king. I miss BF2 when I'm in here. BF2142 doesn't quite have the same fun as BF2 for me personally. Still, home tmrw night, I can play then :-) Annoyingly enough I'll be home about

9, so I'll have to PVR Top Gear and watch it then...

I don't think it is either, having done a bit of digging around.

A person of no consequence impersonating a complete nobody ? Sometimes you have just *got* to love the comedy value of UseNet :)

What was the name of that other 'tard that I seem to recall was stalking you (1) in here at some stage within the last year?

Indeed.

I'd still like to know what actually happened to that f****it Stevens. :-)

(1) The one that was doing it more than all the other nutters you seem to attract, that is ;-)

I reckon one of the other window lickers of Usenet got pissed off with him and did him in.
