Slightly OT: Engine Mount

Jan 23, 2005 5 Replies

During last summer, we broke Kermit's engine / gearbox mount. Sorry, sorry, _I_ broke the engine mount.

Anyway it's currently sitting on our fireplace, Charlie has the idea of putting it into a frame (!). Any ideas about how to preserve it?

Its made by Ford, there is no way to preserve it, rust is inevitable ;)

I suppose it might make a useable paperweight/doorstop if you clean it up a bit.

Ya, but she wants a funky case thingie that we'll bolt it in... :)

Cover it in WD40. It makes a fine invisible shield, it'll make it extra shiny.

Or, paint it with clear nail-varnish for a more permanent version of the above.

Set it in a solid block of poly casting resin, should be able to get it fairly clear, and you can use it as a very posh paperweight
