*sob*

I've just spotted on a Skoda forum that someone has just sold a properly sorted 2005 Fabia vRS with a Golf GT TDI 150 engine modded to knock out

251bhp and 400 lb/ft of torque, and a 0-60 of 5.85 seconds... for £5500. :-O

Given a bit more time to liquidate various four wheeled assets, I could have afforded that.

Arse.

Don't think of it as losing a vRS but of gaining no-understeer... :)

LOL

It had a lot done suspension / brake wise as well, but yes, I can imagine it would be a bit of a handful coming out of roundabouts if you buried your foot.

All part of the fun. :-D

I'll say. The claimed 300 bhp Ka I drove - probably with around 240 bhp - did use the standard transmission, which meant it would wheelspin in any of the lower four gears on a dry road. That was exciting in a kinda "push loud pedal, go straight on." Driving it felt the closest to riding some silly*

600cc bike a few years ago. Power** only in a straight line. *600cc after driving around in things up to the 3.5 litre previous, previous, previous shape M5, felt pokey. **lots of power really.

I suppose. I wonder if a well set up 250 bhp FWD would be more or less predictable than a well set up 250 bhp RWD. Predictable rather than having lots of traction, of course...

That's been up for a while. Another member got it. The original owner spent a lot on it.

Yea :-) The Revo mapped one I've mentioned before that one of my Uni friends had was estimated to be about 170bhp at the time, and since then when I last saw it, it'd been on the rollers and made a healthy 174bhp. It was capable of some amusingly long wheelspins in the wet, and also once in an empty car park, wet again, he demonstrated it;s 2nd gear foot to the floor turning abilities - which basically meant, we went straight on with the wheels turned and spinning hehe. That probably didn't do it any good, but it was pretty funny :-)

IIRC he's traded it in for a change now, although I haven't spoken to him for a while, I'm pretty sure it was for a new Leon, the 170bhp diesel FR. I've just asked another mate on MSN for a few details, as he's in touch, and apparently it's now been mapped to around 210bhp... I thought those 170bhp VAG TDis had a bad rep for reliability, but apparently he's no problems at all with it. Also it has the big optional wheels, and full leather apparently - but I'm looking on the Seat website, which lists leather as an option for them, but using the 'Spec my Seat' configurator thing won't let me choose leather for any Leon. Matey on MSN informs me it was an ex-demo car, and hence it's loaded with most of the options. Apparently he was looking for a white one originally, but this one, which is black, came up at a good price, and they offered him a un-missable trade in deal for the Fabia, so he went for it and hasn't looked back.
