want a 200+bhp toy

revving to 7k rpm is fun

Friend of mine had one, I drove it occasionally and it was a top car to drive, but he bitched constantly about having to work on it! I always shandied out of doing anything at all on it.

7krpm? Nah.. I borrowed a Civic Type-R a couple of weeks ago.. revving to 8krpm is better :-).. unfortunately they aint around for a grand, so I'm going to buy a newish one in April..

good choice of car. The v-tec engine is lovely, although i've noticed they dont like them on here.

A friend of mine has a tidy civic VTI remapped and supercharged.... revs to

9K should you dare :o) outstanding car which He keeps threatening to sell me.

It's also changed my perception of aftermarket supercharges, his jackson racing one is nice and reliable.

whack a nice exhaust on that type R vtec! the noise makes me wanna mess me pants as they sound THAT GOOD!

still no match for my MR2 turbo sadly but 0-60mph in 6.6secs aint bad for an N/A but not as good as my Turbo's 5.8secs :)

not really comparible cars....your GRP 20 so cossie/evo country.

I love new type R's and they do sounds awesome with an aftermarket exhaust on.

I'll look at one as a daily commuter as soon as we decide wht we are doing house/mortgage wise.

I taught a BMW 330Ci owner just how lardy his car was a few weeks back. I was going past him at 50-60mph on a 2 lane slip road, just alongside when the prat went for max power. So I nailed it too. I think he will be going back to dealer to ask why it's so slow a 13 year old 1800cc car can whoop him.

try that next time your sat next to a decent engined E30. the new ones are too heavy to bother with unless

1 - you really like them

2 - your buying an M3/5/6

Don't tempt me - I'd sell my wife and kids for a new V10 M5, although then I wouldn't need it and would buy a ferrari with the money instead.

Dunno about fun - I love mine - but on mkiiisupra.net there's a retard selling his manual turbo, red, G-reg, for a grand. Needs a radiator I reckon, but I think a grand with, £800 without that fixed. Guy only got it a week ago, seems like a right spacker too. "Can't get it into his drive" when he had a 200SX before (almost as big).

Er, my 4Cam was claimed 204, IIRC, and oft-reported as 210+. Either way it kicked (Sierra) Cosworth arse.

I bet they are somewhat quicker than the MR2 on a wet twisty road though :-)

My missus told me to buy one!! Her exact words after driving it " buy one of these, and stop buying countless £100 heaps of shit..".. so I bloody well will once bonus time comes round in April! Never heard one with an aftermarket pipe on it, it sounds bloody great already..

I get this all the time now I'm driving an old 1984 Saab Saloon, it looks awful. I've taken to wearing a cowboy hat and driving gloves while driving it to enhance the "old mans car" image. I do get some funny looks from people sometimes.. even got a smile and wave from an Impreza WRX driver yesterday after I caught him totally by surprise and overtook him after he'd overtaken me.... cos I knew the road, not cos my T16 is that fast, though we were going a fair pace :-)

scoob owners are a damn good bunch i find, normally up for a blast and don't feel the need to redline in 5th past you once you pass them :)

130psi? That's one hell of a lot of boost :-)

Nope, 2.0, 16v, 4Cam, intercooled - in a 92K plate estate. 204bhp.

0-60 was quick, top speed around 140. Fuel economy that would make Land Rover drivers cry when driven hard.

I thought they were less than that. I assumed it was the 2.0 four, is it the

6?

Perhaps I'll take that off my list of potential cars for the moment then. I have a bad habit of driving things as quickly as they'll go.

Are they all as horrible as the one my Mum's test driving (W plater)? The insides of it seem to be made out of recycled plastic from PC case fans.

W plater will be like my dad's Outback. Awful thing. The earlier one is closer to an 80s BMW, typical Japanese plastic, but the 4Cam has fantastic seats, momo wheel and gearknob as standard.

Nasties are the hill-holder clutch (4Cam didn't have it IIRC) and the usual Subaru stench of oil when parking. Oh, and the water galleries on the head can crack.

It really was a lovely car. The only reason I got rid was a £1000 exhaust system, need for a timing belt change and a brake rebuild all at once.

Probably the wrong tyres on it. The Outback was EVIL when it had Goodyears on instead of the proper Yokos. Now it's something which it's hard not to drive like a hooligan.

Assuming a manual: Park on a hill. Press the brake fully down and hold the clutch down. Release the brake.

Bloody is. Horrible understeery handling on the estate I drove.

Hill holder clutch?

Crike.

This was a couple of years old. It's 4 years old+ now. Tyres wear fast on Subarus ;)

I suppose there is a good side to it. However, it also holds the brakes as you apply the clutch - making parking on hills an absolute total bitch. And contributing to baked Subaru.
