I'm driving it...
Yes. It's like every other chuffin' German product. It may be quick but it's extremely dull.
FFS you claim the Passat handles like a hot hatch. It handles like a 1980s hot hatch at best. Gawd knows why you think the Tipo has the best chassis in the business either.
Says the man who bought a base model Accord.
Correction - I claimed that I could 'throw it around like a hot hatch'. There's a difference there, but you never exceed 56mph (to maximise economy) so you wouldn't understand.
Also, I never claimed the Tipo has the best chassis in the business - I have made claims (which are pretty much backed up by the media) that the
156 is the sharpest handling of all 'junior executive' class cars, although, admittedly, this is at the expense of ride quality. But you've never had a car that was designed with handling in mind, so you wouldn't understand.
And not claiming any otherwise.
LOL.
You've told everybody in Usenet that the 156 has the best front wheel drive chassis in the business.
You don't understand the concept between "running a car" and "using a car." You ought to learn that.
Mind you, considering some of your motoring triumphs - like the Alfa Romeo
75 being too fast for a nav rally *cough* - you appear doubly clueless.

Dervy, you're just giving him more ammunition - the 1980s hot hatches were generally the best of the bunch ! :)
Heh.
What would he know.... his knowledge of 80s motoring is a Metro and MkII Fester.
Mind, that Accord is so dull, I'd even prefer a 600Ti :-P
i can't tell if you're joking by that comment as you do like some right s**te old cars :)
Every time I see this sig I go nuts trying to remember what movie it is from.
Fraser
I'd rather a 600Ti than anything Steve owns (no offence like!) :-)
Baaazzzzuuuuummmmmm...
Swimming rod at twelve o'clock low! :)
LOL.
Double LOL.
It's a funny film from a long time ago - still funny today!
get it?
The Court Jester, starring Danny Kaye.
I ended up googling for it.

And what did I say???
"Buy a V8", I said, "It'll have charlie creaming at the gusset", just LPG the bloody thing..
But you bought a 1.8 Honda. Hey ho, at least it ain't diesel.

Heh, we used to use a very hairily tweaked Alfa 75 *3.0* for nav runs.
285 bhp... nice car.
I don't think Dervy bought a base model Accord because it was anything other than dull. If you based your car choice purely on a bizarre statistical formula you invented, you'd probably be in a similar position. (c:
I invented a game called "Foot to the floor". I sometimes play it at work. It involves holding the vehicle in 4th gear on the speed limiter for as long as possble on certain stretches of cornery road. Sprinters are hardly hot hatch handling material, but it demonstrates that you don't need to exceed the speed limit to be driving like a nutter.
Ah, the media. I read they found B52 bomber wreckage on the moon.
If I were to look up the definition of "junior executive" I might find "See words that motoring journalists make up". (c:
Anyway, what part of the 156 is anything like your 'Hot Hatch' Passat?
Try a Ka. No, don't read a magazine article about it, don't slate the engine (that was never what the Ka was about AFAIC), and don't tell us it is its a rusty pile of crap cos it has Mk3 Fester underpinnings. I have experienced the degree to which some cars that you rate rust, and the degree to which bits fall off even pretty recent wop kit. I want you to actually go out and really throw a Ka around and come back and tell us it isn't a reasonable mix of grip and handling without being desperately uncomfortable.
Without making things up just because Dervy's owned one.

Both quite entertaining little cars to drive IMHO.
