Must admit that paint does look nice. Definitely needs tints. It'd look crap without them.

In news:1hsew9j.8l97ifbanya7N% snipped-for-privacy@italiancar.co.uk, SteveH wittered on forthwith;
Sorry Steve, I know you love it, but it just ain't my kind of thing. Looks like a proper jelly mould shape though, and at least jelly is soft touch I suppose. I was unimpressed by the one I drove (which was that shape), and it does feel better than the previous shape to drive.
Then again, my Mk2 GTi is also a nicer, more responsive drive - just a fair bit noisier and less likely to impress the impressionable in a pub car park job interview situation. :-p
The Passat is probably quicker than my Golf though, which is something in the Passats favour I suppose.
Scenery looks ok though. Second picture is great. Hang on, that large hill in the distance looks familiar... Hmm... large, rounded and utterly featureless... reminds me of something....
I know what it is....
The mountain needs 1/2 pimp glass and bigger alloys...

The thing that made an absolutely huge impression on me about my Mk2 Golf (albeit a s**te old 1.8 carb one) was just how amazingly positive and responsive the steering felt (it had PAS, as PeteM will know as he briefly owned it). Am I get excited over not a lot, or is that one thing Mk2 Golfs are known for? All I know is mine was absolutely spot on, tight as a nun's chuff and uber-responsive.

I'm going to focus on the "look what I get to do when I'm at work" aspect of this post.
I'll see you and raise you this

I actually think that the previous shape was better in a lot of respects
- it set the shape for a generation of cars, but the new shape is a bit generic. Still looks pretty good in dark colours, even if they've made the Alfa mistake of making the arches too big for the standard alloys.
See, a tidy MkII GTI would be a fine car - I wouldn't have any issues in meeting customers and partner company directors in one. I questioned the idea of a shabby Range Rover, because they just look dodgy - the kind of think wannabe gangsters and pikeys drive.
It actually flies along when you're in the mood for it. I've not yet been overtaken in the mountains but I spend a lot of time overtaking. It's perfect for my needs - although the TDI170 would be even more perfect.
Heh.

Heh. Nice. I'm kind of thinking of organising something along those lines when I have to organise a conference / team build.
It's nice to be out in that kind of scenery 3 days out of 5 and get paid to do it.
