*Wince*... More hot hatch deliberations...

I've been offered a totally standard, and tidy looking AX GT on a H, for £350 with a reasonable MOT and long tax.

So... given my main criteria is 'something fun to punt down country lanes, revving the arse off it', and this would mean no need to sell the Passat to fulfil it, rude not to?

Yeah the GT's are brilliant motors :)

Miss mine loads J57TAN RIP

might only be 85 bhp standard but theres bugger all to them and they will show a clean pair of heels to most cars in the class (XR2's nova/corsa/saxo's etc)

Yes, they're a right laugh, top little cars, best small hot hatch of the lot IMO. Even the 1 litre base model is a good laugh on a country lane ,

"Starship XM" > £350 with a reasonable MOT and long tax.

I didn't go a bundle on my 1.5D, but I used to have a 1.1 'Echo' - last of the carb fed ones, but with the better phase two dash and lights.

Surprisingly quick actually, and damn good on fuel - they, along with their

106 / Saxo siblings, are a rare example where I say don't bother with the diesel version, even if economy is your criteria.

So long as the guy accepts our offer on it, if I don't, my mate is going to go for it, so I'll get to drive it anyway. :-D

Yes, but you were about 2. Jack's ancient, he has no excuse - he can afford to insure real cars.

My old concern is whether or not my zimmerframe will fit in the boot.

Yes, but it'll double the weight.

They made a AWD one with 100bhp in France :)

I believe they made several 2WD ones in France, too. ;-)

But aye... aware of the other beast - must be good fun.

Whereas I say don't bother with the diesel version of anything, even if economy is your criteria..

Go for it, they're funny little cars. My mum used to have one and it was good fun when I my dad used to drive it with just me in it :) You'l learn to hate the crappy carb though. I hated that bloody thing when I had my 205XS (unless you're lucky and it runs well). Used to have to clean/adjust it every month to keep the car running right. Not to mention the 15mpg when you cained it :)

I think that if you're so tight / skint that a 1.0 AX is too thirsty for you and you want the 1.5D then you should bloody get out and walk.

Diesels are crap. I know, I have one. Almost two.

Out of sheer curiousity, what carb does it have?

If there's a new way, I'll be the first in line. But it better work this time!
