XJR (original, I6 model) - opinions?

These old XJRs can be had for under 4 grand now. What's the crack? Are they a money pit (in other ways than fuel economy)?

4=2E0 supercharged I6 for =A34k sounds good though!
4.0 supercharged I6 for £4k sounds good though! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Don't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Drinks like a drunken Irishman and isn't all that quick.

errr.. they do about 5.2 secs 0-60 dont they, which is pretty good for big luxury car innit?

I'm pretty sure that is the V8 not the six.

Engine Size: 3980 cc Cylinders: 6

0-60 mph: 6.1 s Power Output: 322 bhp Valves: 24 Torque: 512 Nm Torque: 378 lb/ft Top Speed: 155 mph

Not a great deal faster than my Rover then, despite having over 100 more bhp and about 100 more torques (to use a Clarksonism) Weight: 1800+ kg.

But it's RWD and they supposedly handle OK for what they are. And I should imagine in-gear times (if the exist for an auto) are pretty respectable. 23MPG combined isn't much worse than I get from the Rover anyway TBH (last tank was 20mpg - shouldn't have lent it to SWMBO!).

I'd say it'd be a fun way of spending =A34k for a few months fun before flogging it again for more or less what I paid. Maybe something to do after my RTW trip.
