'Cos with the exception of Al's Alpina, and Nom's Coupe, theres no cars in here i'd want :D

You're wierd, 'cos they're 2 of the cars in here I'd definitely not want, other than to sell on for a profit, like.

well, I'd agree with the Alpina, but then it's gonna have to be the T5s next, maybe the saab cabrio, maybe even your 75 steve.

Didn't we used to have an NSX in our midst here?

I don't see why - Al's Alpina is about the only thing here I'd pick too. Oh, and Porsche-man's RX7 if I didn't have to maintain it.

Everyone else runs pocket-money cars don't they ?

And you say Dan's wierd ! LOL !

Do we still have any ? Jamesy hasn't been around for yonks.

I liked the black one, with the black leather and black rims, that Sleeker was looking at.

Ewwwww !

Don't remember so ?

I'd like the Alpina. I've driven a B11, and you can always have a defence against the BMWs being driven by wankers argument.

The Coupe, I really wouldn't piss on if it were on fire. Bloody modern Peugeots.

I hate BMWs with a passion. The last one I'd spend my own money on would be an E30 318iS, 320iS or M3. Anything after that is s**te.

As for your Pug. It's just a soggy 406 in fancy clothes. Very pretty but there's a whole load of more capable stuff out there for similar money.

I'd have a moderm Pug, but not what is only an expensive 406.

Circumstances my dictate that I need an oil burner within the next few months - I've been considering something like a 406 2.2HDi Exclusive, although Xantias also look like a possibility.

Mind, if I were looking to buy an oil burner today, I'd track down a Marea 2.4JTD.

Scarily, I think the Xantia is actually less likely to fall apart. But why not get an Octavia with the TDi lump?

However, the 406 2-dr suffers from the same disease as my old 306. It's a French car, made by Italians. I mean, what in the name of all that is good about cars could possibly be beneficial about that combination? Didn't they learn anything from the Alfa Arna?

Because they're still relatively expensive. around these parts, at least.

Ideally I want something that will cost about what I can get for the Passat, plus 500 quid or so (I'm definitely not dipping into savings to buy a car - strictly what I'm likely to have 'spare' at the end of the month, IYSWIM).

Heh.

Strangely, the Italians can screw their own cars together quite well. I reckon it's a conspiracy to piss off the Frogs ;-)

Hmmm. You need to know some traders. My Subaru Outback, which you'll find is advertised for around £6000 in the Autotrader, would fetch about £1,300-1,800 at auction apparently.

And I thought it was the sort of car people liked. Stupid off-roadery thing, but not an SUV.

Oh, it's because the instructions are in French, of course.

I'd have Tim's Volvo as well i reckon - forgot about that :)

Yes, on the basis of one rattley 306 Cab, all Pugs fall apart, you're absolutely right.

Yeah, you're right - the new M5 is just rubbish. And I wouldn't touch an M6 either. Infact, the last M3 was s**te too. And the ZM-Coupe isn't a bit of a performance bargain is it.

BMW have made plenty of *very* desirable cars over the past few years !

In other news, grass is green !

That's the whole point.

Really, oooh, what else could I have got at 3 years old, for *well* under ten grand, with around 200bhp and all the toys ?

If you'd bothered to actually read a few 406 Coupe reviews, you'd see it came out *very* favorably at the time. The SLK was rated about the same, but looked like shit. The Volvo C70 wasn't quite as good. The Ford Cougar was s**te.

Except that it was extremely cheap - that's precisely why I bought it !

If it had been expensive, then I'd have spent my money on the Passat W8 or the 3.0 XType Sport that I was also musing over at the time.

It does ?

I thought your 306's disease was it's build quality ?

I've got no quibble at all with mine - touch wood, it's very well screwed together.

Which you'd expect to be a disaster.

It's a nice looker.

It would appear that they did, because my Coupé's in rude health right now.

In your eyes, but your experience of cars is limited to FWD repmobiles.

No point in a coupe if it drives like a base model 406.

I can't be arsed posting a list, but, lets just say, it's quite lengthy.

The SLK is also shit, but it has the redeeming feature that it's driven at the correct end for a coupe / sportscar. I don't think being the best out of a Cougar and C70 is anything to shout about.

The saloon equivalent would have been 50% cheaper, though.
