lets say your engine & trans turns 2000 rpm at 60 mph with 2.73 gears, now install 4.10 gears, the engine & trans now turns 2500 rpm at 60 mph, more rpms means more wear, no way around it!

Yes, more wear, more tear, more noise, more fuel consumption. And less likely hood of busting something in the AOD while smoking the tires, so the tranny may actually live longer.

Try telling it to someone driving a ricer who has to wind his engine to
8000rpm on each shift to achieve speed.-Rich
Wait a minute!
You mean you don't want to talk about negative torque?

What a load of shit this thread has turned into. Wow... just wow.
Anyway, let me cut to the chase with you: Go with the 3.73s. Don't make a habit of making wide open throttle romps all the way through to the overdrive gear. The OD bands in those trannies are relatively thin and making a WOT jump from 3rd into OD wears on them.
Turn OD off for those spirited acceleration sessions. ;-)
Yes a transmission cooler is always a good idea. Anything you can do to keep the transmission fluid cooler and therefore the transmission itself cooler is a good thing.
A higher stall torque converter could come down the road, especially if you put that cooler in there. It'll need it.

No different than most of the other ones...
If it's 90% city, then 4.10s would be the ticket with an AOD.
If they're that spirited, the car won't go into OD anyway until he lets up on the throttle, at which point there's no problem.
Good advice.
A higher stall converter should be considered only after some engine mods. It's almost a waste on a basically stock motor driven on the street. 2 more cents.

So what's the car feel like now compared to yesterday? Big difference with the gears and subframe connectors, or hardly noticeable?

Sure, enlighten us.
Added the 3.73 to my 88 and it was fine. (at 21k) ran it hard 20% of the time, changed trans fluid 2 times rear end once. Sold it at 115k no problems. Just make sure you have the right person install them to avoid whinning noise.
