New Wheels

May 18, 2006 3 Replies

I've decicded to get new wheels for my '98 convertible cobra (black) and was wondering if I should get the original silver or polished ones. As my car came with aftermarket wheels that I don't really care for and the chrome is coming off, it's time to get new ones. Any opinions. Also the one's I was looking at come as 17/8 for the front and 17/9 for the rear, That shouldn't affect anything should it? Thanks, Cobraboy

I've been running 17x9 for several years on my '94. Just recently changed the tire size to the '94 Cobra option of 255/45/17. Clearance issues are NIL.

This is what they look like with the 245/45/17 tires.

Personally I hate the silver painted rims. I just don't like them. Polished alloys if they are sealed are probably ok, I've never owned any, but polished and unsealed are a bitch and a half to keep polished. My pref is chromed.

the chrome peels off too easy. Like the one's I have on there now, other wise I agree. Cobraboy '98 black convert. stock (except the wheels) with 12k miles
