RAMFM Then and Now- a call to arms

Just popped off an email to him a moment ago.

The subtle renaming of RAMFM. What is he trying to pull. Maybe if he gave full credit to the group, then maybe it wouldn't be so offensive.

The fact that he is using (again, the words are theft of content) this newsgroups content to boost the "thread" and "post" count of his private web site is what is truly disturbing. (Wonder how they would feel if someone copied everything from their web site and posted it at another).......That and the fact that people are posting here, with the full intention of having it stay here, and not there. Funny that this post showed up there (I just printed it out along with all of the others that include anything from myself, as they do not have my express permission to use any content that I post, nor the content of this news group for private use), wonder how long it will take "the admin" to edit or delete it, as he has done with anything else that does not shine a positive light on his web site.

I haven't been to Admin's web site and I have no plans to go there. I've been reading this newsgroup for years, and I don't give a rat's ass who does what with its content, as long as it remains intact here in the original forum, i.e. USENET.

Political agendas like this (and I gather Admin's, also) suck. My 2 cents. Don't like it? Flip the channel.

I post everything to unmoderated USENET will full realization that it's not mine once I hit the 'send' button. Anyone who posts to a public forum thinking that they have some kind of control or ownership of their posts is naive IMO.

Out of curiosity, I took a look at the web site, and you're right - it's blatant fraud. Morally, it's scum. But from a purely legal standpoint, why can't he do what he's doing?

Sure, but why post intellectual matierials to unmoderated USENET if you don't want them taken, cut up, twisted, and whatever else? Caveat emptor.

No they're not. Part of that choice to post as mentioned above includes the knowledge that your posts are not yours once they hit the public servers.

When we post to a public forum, we forfeit ownership rights of what we post. Knowing that, what right do we have to complain that someone takes those posts and does whatever with them?

What this all boils down to is this: Do you believe that your posts are still yours after you post to public, unmoderated USENET? I don't think so.
