The BBC motoring program Top Gear broadcast their opinions of the 350Z last night. Well.... put it this way.... I was interested, but I'm less interested after that programme. They hated it.
They selected the engine noise, the interior build quality and the bracing bar for particular criticism.
Interestingly, Nissan put a sample of the engine noise on their website and I remember thinking that it sounded particularly harsh and unpleasant by comparison with say, BMW or Porsche six-potters. It made me wonder why they put that sample there in the first place. I didn't know the engine was from Renault !
They told us after the piece that Nissan had said the test car wasn't representative and they'd have a new car to test before UK launch. I hope that interior has improved, because that would be the one thing that would stop me buying the car as it stands. Well, that and Nissan UK's abysmal marketing "strategy" of selling a car you can't see and can't drive.
By the way UK folks - Don't bother registering for the 350Z "brochure", because it's a content-free zone.
In the interest of balance, I'd like to say that there are two BMW Z4's in Wakefield (where I live), and I have to say that I don't like the look of that thing, particularly from the rear. So that's eliminated one contender .
