Blinking Airbag Light and Light When Brake Depressed

Jan 17, 2006 Last reply: 20 years ago 1 Replies

I have just bought a 95 Z and while I drove it I noticed that the airbag lighted was flashing and when I depressed the brake a light similar to a bright beam light appeared on the dash but went out when I released the brake. What gives with each? How do I disable the airbags? One other question how many qts does this engine take? CRSZMAN

The light that comes on when you press the brake pedal is caused by one of your brake light bulbs being burned out. The brake lights have two bulbs on each side, and three bulbs in the center 3rd brake light.

It's illegal to disable the airbags. There is an airbag diagnostic you can run to find the cause of the flashing airbag light. If you search the technical forum at

you'll find the procedure.

You're engine will use 3 5/8 quarts with an oil and filter change. It won't hurt anything to round up to 4 quarts.
