95 Nissan Quest won't start

The clutch switch may be bad or need adjusting if you have a standard transmission.

If you say it spins like really fast it means the pinion gear on the starter is not engaging the flywheel teeth before the motor is energized or there might be a broken overrunning clutch in the starter.   I would guess it is the starter, but I would remove starter and look at flywheel teeth, sometimes flywheel teeth is all chewed up so even if pinion gear of starter engages it will not grab flywheel, is so you must drop transmission and replace flywheel or sometimes rarely it just the outer ring can be replaced. Usually if flywheel is bad it would start to grind when starting. Also if using screwdriver don't jump from big terminal with thick battery cable attached to other big terminal which is motor terminal, which would spin motor without engaging pinion. Jump from big terminal with battery cable attached to little wire terminal which is solenoid terminal (terminal which receives 12 volts when key turned to start. The starter is good from taking it to be tested. The teeth are fine and this is a newer starter. I had it replaced 8 months ago. Let me clarify on trying to start the van. When i try with the key it doesn't do anything. Like trying to start a car with a dead battery except the lights work. There is no spinning of the starter at all from trying to start with a key. The spining only happens from manually trying to jump the starter. Like using a screwdriver across the starter and solenoid terminals. Have also tried running a wire from the positive battery post to the solenoid terminal. Was told by someone to run a wire from the battery negative post, ground the wire to the starter and try starting it with the key. None of that worked.

Does the starter run at all when you turn the key? If not, it's probably not the starter or the flywheel. I would suspect the start relay or alarm interlock. In fact if the starter doesn't run at all, I'd try to disconnect the battery for a couple minutes. Then reconnect it and lock/unlock the doors with the remote. Then try starting it. No the starter does not run or spin at all from turning the key. Just like a dead battery. There is an alarm but i never used it in the year i have had the vehicle. Not even sure it works. Where would the start relay be and how do i test it?

Any chance the timing belt broke and there's just no compression? Hopefully that's not it, but just thought I'd toss it out there...
