97 Nissan 4x2 Pickup Rear End Vibration

Nov 02, 2009 4 Replies

I have a 1997 Nissan 4x2 Pickup with 180,000 miles that has developed a rear end vibration. Whenever I get between 50 and 55 mph I get a vibration from the rear end of the truck. If I let off on the gas it goes away, but when I give it the gas again its starts up. Replaced tires and gear oil, but its still there.

Any ideas on what I need to look for or replace?

Thanks for any help....................

Were wheels balanced? Worn wheel bearings? Loose exhaust pipe?

Took it to auto shop this afternoon and mechanic said that it needed universal joints replaced.

sounds like a problem with either the center support bearing on the drive shaft or a u-joint problem.
