cleaning clear dash plastic

Hello I was cleaning the dash on my 2002 Altima and used windex on the clear plastic that covers the speedometer and tach, now I have these white spots on the clear plastic that will not go away. I tries some wd-40 but still had no luck. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Most auto parts stores around my location carry a plastic polish made by Meguiars. There are 3 different types, but I think the only difference is the amount of abrasives. I use it once (don't remember which level) on some clear plastic headlight covers with good results.

Really simple. Call a Nissan dealer. My service department carries wax and cleaning agents. Lets face it. Why would they recommend and sell a product if it harmed what you were doing? Dan

Maybe because Windex is made for glass, not clear plastic? If it has ammonia in it (?) maybe it reacts negatively with clear plastic?

The fact is, he has the spots regardless of what happened.

Now he knows how to remove them.

And as for the Armor All Protectant Wipes, it DOES say not to get it on clear plastic, but that's hard to follow when you're trying to treat the dash near the gauges and a part of the wipe gets on the clear plastic guage cover, and, the damage doesn't show up until some time later...so you don't see right away that there's any problem.

They key point is DON'T USE ARMOR ALL !

Professional detailers avoid it like the plague. Even if we discount the slimy finish it leaves, it's bad for your car.
