Nissan Sentra '97 starting problems

Oct 01, 2003 1 Replies

Help! My car started by having to jiggle the key in the ignition or pump the clutch (whatever worked) to start. Now lights come on, radio, etc, but wont turn over. You'll hear a click. Sounded like starter. Checked starter, it is fine. Tried cleaning the connections. Not starting. Not solenoid (sp?). Any suggestions at all appreciated.

Also took the car in when this started happening, they ran diagnostic and said IOC or AOC engine needs to be replaced, and should help. Replaced it and somewhat helped the problem. Now not starting over.

May be time to get a new battery. Does it still have the original battery? The Nissan battery tends to die slowly - it may still start the car but it has considerably less oomph. 7 years is a good time to get a new one.
