Plastic loop on altima key broken

I have two ignition keys for my 2000 Nissan Altima, the top of the key is covered by black plastic. The loop, which is used to hang the key on a key chain, is broken on both keys. The keys have a chip inside so I just can't have a copy made.

Does anybody know of any covers I could buy that I could put over the broken plastic part so I could hang the keys on a chain again? After reading a post in another Nissan forum I tried to drill a small hole in the plastic the key. I drilled a few millimeters below the top of the key but couldn't get through, seems the metal key goes all the way up to the top of the plastic...hopefully I didn't damage the chip. I'll find out tomorrow.

Has anybody else run into this. The size of the key prevents from just going and buying some cheap key covers and slipping one over the keys. Anybody know of anyplace I could get a key cover or something?

Thanks

I work at Advance Auto Parts, and we recently got a new HELP! product that may very well work... it is designed to repair a broken loop on a keyless entry unit, but you may be able to modify it (cut it) to fit your key. It is small, but very stretchy. I can try to get you a part number tomorrow.
