Servive Engine Light

Jul 20, 2006 2 Replies

Hello, I own a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder LE 4x4 with about 60,000 miles on it. The check engine light just came on. I am wdonering whether they have different lights for "Service Engine Soon" and for "Check Engine". I am wondering whether an oil change will fix this issue or it will need a trip to dealer and code reading, etc. Also I havent started this car for over 6 weeks and once I start the light came up after 5 miles of driving. The oil was changed like 5000 miles ago (I followed the 7500 mile schedule as recommended so it is not due until another 2500 miles). I checked the oil but it seems fine to me, enough quantity, doesnt look burnt, etc. Any suggesstions?.

Thanks Andy

It needs the code(s) read. It doesn't require a trip to the dealer to do that.

locate any AutoZone store, they will read the code for free and then you can decide what to do
