Can anyone tell me how to find the engine number for an M registered Sunny Spray ( UK 3dr). Is it on the VIN plate, or hidden on the underside of the engine? I can't see any from under the bonnet, and I'm not sure what the other numbers are on the VIN plate.

M registered? The Sunny Lucino VZ-R, Sunny GT used the Sr16VE engine. If it's older probably an Sr20DE, oo if low end and older GA16DE. New models would probably most like haver the QR series
Unless the engine has been changed or you need to check that it really does match it's on the DVLA log book. The number is stamped on the crankcase, should be vertical down side at flywheel end.

I need to find it as the car needs a Vehicle Identity Check (VIC) after being written off for a minor dent in the offside rear quarter ! The Vehicle Inspectorate want all the numbers on their application form before the car can be inspected ( £26.50 ) and a new logbook can be supplied.
