I can lock and unlock my doors and then when I put the key in ignition, it cranks but won't turn over. After opening the doors the security light blinks and when I try to start the light stays on constant.
Are you saying the starter is working but the engine won't start? If so even if it has enough battery power to crank starter you still might have a bad battery and the computer is not telling the fuel pump to start. This happened to me and a new battery solved the problem.
If you have there is where the problem lies, one of two things has happened.
the new key in not a chip or transponder equipped key.
2.the key is a chip key and has not been programmed to the vehicle.
Nissan uses a key recognition system called NATS (Nissan Anti Theft System).
The keys are equipped with a small chip in them called an echo-back transponder.
The system must be made aware of ALL keys that are used to operate the vehicle, if an umprogrammed key is used to try and start the vehicle the system will not let it happen because it is an unrecognized key. If an unknown key is used more than 3 times to start the car the system will go into "lock out" mode. Meaning NO key will start it, no even previously programmed keys.
On the early NATS systems I don't think you can escape from lock mode so you may have to get the car towed to the dealership and have them do it with the CONSULT scan tool, be sure to bring all your keys .
