I am getting rid of my 2000 Maxima tomorrow and good riddance to it! That car has been nothing but problems since the day I got it. I know there are many out there that have been treated very well by their Maxima, but it really left me wondering about the car I owned. I think I got that lucky 1 in a million lemon we all fear. I am going to drive an old 300ZX around until I find another Maxima, but it's an 88 300ZX Turbo so I have no qualms :) I have my eye on a 4th gen for they seem to be a much nicer car; especially the GLE. I have found a few for about 6500-8000 depending on mileage etc....(IMHO).
Goodbye Maxima

Don't leave us hanging -- what were the problems?
The problems all happened within six months of oneanother. They go as follows:
1) Brake rotors 2) Ignition coils 3) Air conditioning 4) CD player died on me 5) Cat converter started to rattle needing replacement 6) Somehow I managed to get a car with a bad tow on each wheel in the back making it so I have to change back tires every 20k miles. 7) Unknown rattle on passenger side gets much louder yet dealer and mechanic both can't find it. 8) Bearings on pulley go out causing a loud schreeching noise.....and the beat goes on..... sad, but this 88 300ZX turbo seems like a much better built car. I think I just got that red headed step-child nobody wants.
Oh well.
