I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY MAXIMA 97! PLEASE HELP ME!!!

A few months ago my car has died when I hit the breaks. And check light engine was on. I took it to mechanic and they are cleaned everythings inside and light has gone. I am started to drive my car and it has died a few times. It's always happening like this:

Only when I hit the breaks and my car is stopped or almost stopped then RPM drop to 500-600 and the engine turns off by itself. I crank it and its starts running. Most of the time my car runs smooth. But runs rough when my car dies and I have to crank this again to keep it going. Although when I am on highway and don't have to stop, my car is fine. But I notice one thing when I am using the AC then RPM always close to 800-1000. And never dies. I took my car again to the shop when RPM started to jump from 1000 to 1500 and go back to almost 0. And the mechanic again did not tell me which the problem is.

But today when I crank the car she starts running but after 1 minute has completely dies. It doesn't make any noise, just nothing! All the lights are out, I cant close the windows! No alarm light on either. I have asked my friend to charge my batteries from his car. But still no help. Car is out.

Who knows what it may be?? Please HELP ME to fix it!!! Or find out which the problem is?

Hi there, I had the same problem with my Nissan Qx 96, it just dies in the middle of traffic, it is so annouying & frustrating....

I took it to the mechanic & he found it hard to distiguish what the problem is, but at the end (took it many times to mechanics because of the same problem), they found out that it was the sensors on the car (mine is automatic) & they have changed them & since that day (one year ago) it works fine & never dies on me...

Thank you & hope this helped... aymenpicc
