NGK Iridium Spark Plugs - Anybody try them? Results?

Getting ready to replace the plugs in my 99 Maxima. I was planning on using NGK double platinum plugs, but read that the NGK Iridiums are cleaner burning, last even longer, and save gas, too. And they cost the same as the double platinums.

Has anybody tried the NGK Iridiums in a 4th Generation Maxima and how did you like them?

Actually, the iridiums last only half as long as the OEM platinums. It's ironic, considering that they are made of a harder metal than OEM.

I am running Denso IK16's and thought that they lasted only 30k miles, the same as coppers. Recently, was looking at online literature for NGK and Denso and they seem to imply that Iridium plugs last a little LONGER than platinum plugs in the same conditions. No change interval was specified. Not sure what the real story is here.

In any case, the iridium plugs work fine but I don't notice any performance improvement per se.

Yes, they do try to imply it. If you look at the Denso website's FAQ, they mention that Toyota uses an iridium plug as oem for one of their models, and it can go 120,000 without a pllug change. They also say that that particular plug is coated on one side with platinum, so it's quite unique.
