407 boot switch problem

The boot-opening switch on my 407 doesn't work. I can still open it with the remote but, presumably, the contacts on the press-switch on the boot are dirty - whatever.

Anyway, unless anyone has any ideas on that, my question is a very simple one. The inside of the boot lid has a stiff cover held in place by a dozen or so plastic pins which, presumably, click into holes in the metal boot lid. But I cannot work out how to remove these pins safely. Is it just a matter of levering with a screwdriver or getting long-nosed pliers around the shaft and pulling? I don't have a Haynes for the 407 - my next search will be to locate one.

I have always found this group a great source of help with successive peugeots (and, I believe, I have been able to help others occasionally). The fact that the group is so quiet reflects the fact that modern vehicles are, relatively, trouble-free and, when they do go wrong, with anything other than a flat tyre or an empty fuel tank, it is usually beyond the average driver to do other than call for help.

should pop off

Just to complete the story, I managed to remove the boot cover - screwdrivers under the buttons but I needed to use long-nosed pliers, with a fat screwdriver under, to lever them off. Most buttons survived

- three were destroyed.

Anyway my Son then suggested that, before fiddling with the switch, I check the manual (RFM!) and I found that the electronics had reset the boot switch to inoperative. A few minutes with the menu and one click fixed the problem.
