Engines and Turbos: Which ones?

May 15, 2005 3 Replies

I am starting to seriously think about upgrading the engine in my 205. I want a Diesel in this car (will be getting a 1.6GTi soon to get used to a petrol before I get an Mi16) but was wondering which I should get. I?m tempted to stick with the XUD7T for simplicity but was wondering if any of the 1.9s would be a good idea? Or even the larger diesels such as the 2.5? If I got one of these could I change the turbo for a better quality one without cooking stuff?

I will of course be changing the brakes, suspension, driveshafts etc. and the gearboxes if needed (or I should say I?ll get a mechanic to do it for me) :D

Cheers

i've seen a 205 GTI1.9 fitted with a XUD9TE and being tuned to a mere

160BHP afik its a more or less straight swap, apart from the electrics i'd say but sure pug does not invent the wheel twice so there should be many cross connections in the car

Cheers, probably not gonna do it for a while, got lots to upgrade on the car first.

I?ll use the money I save in the mean time to insure myself on the GTi I?m gonna buy, and get driving lessons for my girlfriend so I don?t have to drive her everywhere

p.s. anyone got a Peugeot running on biodiesel?

very doable with an non turbo diesel like the xud 7 and 9 merely doable with the TE versions wont risk my tuned HDi for it though
