Power steering 106 Can it be done?

Wife's M reg 106 has all the good bits fitted, full electric pack etc but no PAS. Anyone know how difficult it would be to get hold of scrap parts and fit it? It's a 106 XDT BTW.

Up until a couple of years ago UK cars' Number Plates were of the form:- A 123 BCD

The 1st Letter used to change each year (in August) &, hence you can tell the age of the car. In this case an "M" registered car was registered between Aug '95 & Jul '96.

Registered between August 1995 and July 1996 in the UK, its the prefix letter of the registration plate which gives you an indication of the car's age.

AFAIAA the Mk1 106 never had PAS, so retro fitting may well be fraught with more expense than updating said car with a newer model with the desired specification..

Did the XSi have PAS?

it would be a major major pain and expensive. you'll need the pump, belt,, different pulley to attach it to, resivoir, piping, change electrics etc etc plus all the other little things i don't know about (different steering rack??)
