I don't have a Partner, so I don't know if it works, but maybe if you just push it shortly it goes all the way down and if you keep it pushed in it stops when you release the button? I don't know, but to my opinion it should work this way, at least that's the way I believe it works in my 307 ;-) Don't shoot me if I'm wrong for my own car, after a while you just don't think about it any more...

That is how automatic windows work. They have been like that on every car I have had since the electric ones were introduced. Instructions for my 406 say to press the switch firmly for automatic open/close or lightly to move the window in stages.

On my 307 the switch on the drivers side has two "clicks". When you push it halfway you get the first click, in this position the window keeps moving as long as you hold the switch. When you push further down (or up) you get a second click. You don't have to hold this position, the window goes all the way automatically, unless you operate the switch a second time.

On my car (ford) the electric windows operate in a similar way to yours but if the battery is disconnected, the windows "forget" their upper and lower limits and until they are taught it again (by holding the buttons in the fully up and fully down position for several seconds each), mechanism works in the way that you want it to. Ie moves for the duration of the button push then stops.

I not saying this will work perfectly on your pug but it might be worth a try. Don't forget to check you have your radio code before you try this. Let us know if it works please so it can help others hth

On my 406 (and my Honda CRV) you have to re-educate the window for top and bottom limits after a battery disconnect.

Also on the pug and the Honda, the window switch moves incrementally when the switch is pressed lightly and automatically when it is pressed firmly.

Looked up official owners manual, where it says (for drivers window): 2 possibilities:

1. Manual mode: Press button. Window stops when button is released.
2. Automatic mode: Press button for longer time. The window opens or closes completely.

Well, this is exactly what happens. But this is stupid. When I want to open halfway, of course I have to press the button for a little longer, which errorously gets interpreted as automatic mode.

I'll let you know if I get the issue resolved some way, but I don't like risking losing radio code by experiments.

Are you saying you don't have the radio code? A pug dealer can tell you what it is. You will need it one day when the battery has to be disconnected for whatever reason.

If it has a code. Some Pug radios are paired to the computer and don't need to be re-coded as they are protected by dint of not working in any other car. The hand book should say which type is fitted.

I have the code, but not the time to 'tinker'. Besides, I remember having the battery changed some time ago, because the old one had failed. After this I had to reset the time & date of the clock, but the radio required no special attention, it still worked. Also, as regards to the electrical windows: nothing has changed after the battery change.

So your radio is probably one that is paired to the onbard computer. Assuming that Pug windows all work similarly you can refresh their memory without having to disconnect the battery. Just hold the button down to open the window fully, keeping it pressed for 5 seconds or so after the window stops (you might hear a click) and then fully close it, again holding the switch for 5 seconds or so. That works on the 406 and it may well be the same on the Partner.

Regrettably no. You are stuck with automatic on the drivers door, there is no way of changing that. I was responding to the other comments about refreshing the windows memory of limits after a battery disconnect. I have found that it sometimes loses its memory in use and needs to be refreshed. I think it happens if the window gives some resistance and fools it into thinking it has closed.

Have you tried using firm pressure on the switch (automatic) and light pressure (incremental). That works on the 406 and on my Honda.

That's not applicable for my car. As I indicated in one of my earlier replies mine distinguishes between a short and long button press. I wish they'd never "invented" it...
