Bob Lutz's first effort at GM a flop?

Bob Lutz has said that the first GM car that he had input for from the very beginning is the new Pontiac G6.

The car buff magazines have all had a look at it now and it is getting, at best, damned with faint praise. I mean very faint in that it is judged better than the dog it replaced...and that's about it. No one finds its ready to play with the Japanese and European competition. (As a GM stock-holder, there is zero joy in this state of affairs, for me.)

Very disappointing given Lutz's "car guy" credentials. I guess it means he's been assimilated by the GM "collective".

Sigh.

Another missed opportunity.

I'm sure a lot of little gurls will run out & buy a G 6 without ever consider picking up a magazine first to read a review on the car. Most buyers don't really care what an article has to say.

I've read reviews of cars I've bought & didn't care what was said about the vehicle I was interested in. Some of what was said I agreed with - other things I did not.

The G6 is ok if you want to settle for an ugly dumpy car that pontiac calls sleek. Is there a new definition for the word sleek? Sleek my ass. The g6 looks like a chubby hunk of metal with 4 wheels. Bob Lutz needs to collect his pension and retire

I went to my local Pontiac dealership and had a look at the G6 GT. It is a very nice car and I think Pontiac will sell lots of them. It is neither dumpy or ugly. My only complaint is that I'm not too crazy about the color pallette that you can pick from. They need a nice aquamarine blue or teal color added to the mix.

I can't wait to see the coupe and take it for a drive. Give me a 6 speed manual and a nice V6 and I'll be happy.
