Leaky Windscreen Washer Valves

Mar 19, 2006 3 Replies

Dear all,

My Rover 416i (1997) leaks water from a valve that is in the pipe from the washer bottle near to the nozzles on the bonnet. This make a real mess under the bonnet - washer water being sprayed all over the electrics etc ! Does anybody know what the valve is there for - is it a pressure relief valve to prevent the pipe from being pushed off by the water pressure when the washer nozzles are frozen ?

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks, Dave

Non return valve. Keeps water at the ready near the nozzles.

Thank for that Paul.

I assume that it shouldn't be leaking - off to the breakers for me then .. I might have a go with the good old "fix anything" silicon rubber first.

Also, watch out for those stupid plastic elbow fittings on the underside of the squirters, they tend to split down the seam line and piss fluid everywhere. A trip to a pet shop for fish tank hose and connectors cures all.
