Those cars have been available here in Canada for almost two years now. The owners seem to like them a lot, and they are starting to attain a 'cult' following like the VW Beetles did in the '50's and '60's. As well, many businesses are using them as rolling billboard advertising their product.

My neighbor bought a used Scion B to run up and down between Marathon Key and Ocala 423 miles one way).. I rode in it and it was a surprisingly comfortable little shitbox. I don't hate ALL things all the time, I hate SOME things all the time... like the kindergarten drawing styles of these new "shitbox" vehicles (I think the engineers are minimizing their drafting tools to a pencil and a framing square). They may be roomy and get good gas mileage, but sooner or later you have to get out, step back and have to look at the damn thing. There probably isn't much difference between the professional design drawings hanging on the manufacturer's Engineering Dept. walls and the picture of a school bus hanging on some 4 year old parent's refrigerator. Sure they have their purposes like a commuting vehicle or a grocery getter, but they could have put some styling into them.
