Replaced the head unitin my 98 Forester, now I need new speakers. Recommmendations for DIY? Fronts only or both? Thanks LT

If you have the tweeters in your 98, then put in components (separate tweeter / midbass) in the front & leave the rears alone, otherwise do all 4 with coaxials (tweeter & midbass in one speaker) or coaxials in front & only midbass in rear. You don't really need treble coming out of the rear, that would be my rec.
Check crutchfield.com for sizes. Use the "What Fits My Car" link. I personally like Boston Acoustics, but they're pricey and require a decent amount of power (amplifier may be necessary), nor can you buy them online. You might go with some Alpine, MB Quart, Polks or Infinitys.

My head unit is an Alpine cdm-9823, 18 watt (50 peak) by 4. I assume sensitive speakers would be better? What about correct fit for the front, aren't the fronts an odd size? No tweeters, can they be installed? Is the cable there? Thanks LT
