subaru subwoofer / clarion SRV 303

i also am interested in this amp. I saw it is a 7" sub. Kinda on the small side - does it handle the bass well? I like the 200W 10" Infinity one that Circuit City sells, but it won't fit under the passgr seat in the WRX.

I have had the equivalent Clarion unit installed under the driver's seat in my Outback for over 6 years and it has been quite reliable. The only negative is that it amplifies some low frequency ignition noise, even though I have a heavy-duty electrical filter kit installed. However, I can only hear the noise when there is little or no signal from the head unit. Sounds like a good description of the factory subwoofer in our 1998 Outback. Although neither the radio nor subwoofer say Clarion on faceplate I suspect they are Clarion products.

To answer you question, yes the subwoofer puts out nice bass. Not boom boom that you can feel, or shakes the mirror, but bass that sounds good to a 55 year old. (Boston, James Gang, Queen, Abba, and Bach type bass). Reliable? Yup, have had no trouble with it and it does not rattle, six years down the road.

While adjusting the sub to the right level, did you find it performing well in the higher bass range (60-100hz)? I'm wondering that because you high-passed your other speakers pretty low (60hz)? is it because the sub wasn't very good in the higher range?

As my speakers are only 4", I was thinking of trying the sub up to may be 120hz (a bit high for a sub) to help filling the mid bass range which is so poor in my current setup.
