1992 Geo Metro driveshafts... (Auto, 1.0 liter)

The car is a 1992 Geo Metro LSi Convertible with 213k miles. Automatic transmission and the 3 cylinder 1 liter engine. Runs great, but pukes a pretty good amount of transmission fluid at highway speeds. Looks like the area that is soaked with fluid is around the driver's side drive shaft. (Front Wheel Drive is new territory for me... Are these half-shafts or drive axles or what is the terminology?)

I'm guessing a gasket in there has rotted away.

It looks like I should be able to hike the front end up, pop out a clip or two, a few bolts here and there, and replace the gasket or whatever is needed in there.

Am I way off base, or should it be pretty straight forward? I'm fairly mechanical (I've replaced U-joints before, CV joints, replaced valves on older Ford BB engines, etc...) and have quite a range of tools for doing most mechanical tasks.

Thanks,

-Steve
