Auto trans slippage

I have a 1 yr old Mitsubishi Space Star (Dutch designed and built) with

6,500 km on the clock. It has had a problem with the auto transmission for several months which has not been fixed by the dealer. When it goes through 1st to second gear the motor revs (revs go from 3500 to 4200) between gears.. The change seems slow and is not synchronised with the throttle. This only happens for the first change after the car has been standing for several hours e.g in the morning after standing all night. It does not happen after it is warmed-up. It is under warranty but the dealers have no idea where to start.

Anyone got any ideas? TIA.

Sounds like the transmission has an internal problem. Sounds like a job for a transmission shop!

You are making no mention as to how cold or warm it is in your area, but the answer seem to be kinda obvious.... let the car warm up a little bit and you won't have that problem... even the tranny fluid needs to be a certain temp to work efficiently......

That's only partially true, Fweddy. You should be able to drive off with a cold vehicle and not experience slipping. Slipping=WEAR. Some seal or valve or something is sticking when it's cold and the dealer doesn't want to open it up. He hopes it will fix itself or get worse or you will go away. It probably will get worse, but maybe not until after the warranty. Go on record multiple times to build your case for when you need that overhaul.

Temp here is about 18-20 degs C. And, yes, you certainly should be able to drive off without slippage. You are right on, Eddy. Thanks for input.
