2000 Corolla CE Passenger side power window

I have just purchased this corolla with 30,000 miles on it and the passenger side window has a problem. The problem is if you fully open it and then close it a couple times it will just stop working. Then if you give it a little time, say a minute or so, it works again. Any ideas as to what the prolem might be?

It's on a 'work to rule' schedule?

Does this happen from the passenger side switch and driver's side switch? If it happens from only one switch, then the offending switch is probably bad. Remove the inner door panel and apply 12 volts directly to the motor and see if the same thing happens If it does not happen, then there is further evidence that one of the switches is bad. I believe that power flows through the master switch so if the problem occurs regardless of which switch is bad then the master may be bad.

If the problem occurs when you apply power directly to the window motor then the switches are OK and the motor and/or regulator are suspect. Make sure the regulator does not bind and heat up the motor. If the regulator moves freely then the motor is the likely culprit.

If the switches, motor, and regulator are all OK then you have a loose connection somewhere, most likely where harnesses plug in somewhere or where wires pass from the door to the body.

Window Motor Overheating? Perhaps due to resistance/friction/tint?
