Need a little more info -- the starter is cranking it over and it won't fire? Starter spinning but not turning engine over? No sound from starter at all?

It would help if you quoted previous posts so that people trying to reply know what the problems, symptoms, and corrective actions were.

If there is no sound from the starter:

If you have an automatic transmission, try setting the parking brake and shifting to neutral. If the car starts in Neutral but not in park, then the neutral safety switch and circuit are suspect.

If you have a manual transmission, make sure that the clutch pedal is depressed all the way, with no obstructions behind the pedal like the floor mat. You can disconnect the clutch safety switch and jump the wires on the harness side and see if the starter engages. Obviously, make sure you are in neutral before you try this.

Next, check for power at the starter when it is engaged. If there is no power at the starter, work your way backwards to the relay. It is not uncommon for the starter relay to be bad.

Keep going backwards until you find the open circuit.

i replaced the alt. and battery after they were tested at auto zone . lasted about 3 days and the new battery went dead. it is a manual trans what could be causing this problem. it seems the alt. is not working again. thanks again for any help in advance.

Ok... we need more info...did it work normally for those three days?...did it start ok?...how many times did you start it in those three days?...pretty hard to diagnose your problem when you don't give much info...
