newbie: Tuning 1994 Corolla

Aug 08, 2006 2 Replies

Greetings,

I just acquired a 1994 Corolla sedan. The car has high mileage but still drives strong. I'd like to learn more about how can tune a vehicle this old, sort of as a learning experience. Also, in the Boston area and wondered if someone could point me to a good auto performance shop in the area.

Thanks,

Mark

When you say "tune" do you mean modifications for additional performance or to bring it to factory specs?

Your best bet for ignition parts such as spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, etc. would be OEM and make sure timing is set to factory specs.

Make sure the coolant is fresh, and that transmission and differential fluids have been changed within the last 30,000 miles or so.

If you want more performance or sound, try a TRD air filter or exhaust.

For OEM PArts, Jaffarian's in Haverhill. Go on their web page, get the parts number, and tell them you got the number off the net. If they don't offer, ask for Wholesale.
