Remove the "chirp" sound from keyless entry 4Runner ?

Anyone know a way that the sound can be removed and leave the light flashing retained when unlocking and locking the doors of a 2006

4Runner ?

tks

These controls are usually an off the rack model installed in the car at the factory. It is probably behind the dash panel under the steering wheel. Find out which model you have from which MFGR, and you can probably reprogram it, that is, if your dealer is no help.

I believe that the dealer can program it so that it is silent. If not, remove the chirper.

I suppose I can put a covering over the "chirper" which will dull the sound, at least until I can get to a dealer who will oblige.

Any idea off hand, where the chirper is located ? (assuming one looks for the actual horn like item in the car rather than some element of the key itself.)

Is it not part of the alarm system too though?

I have never looked for the chirper so I'd have to do some digging to find it.

It's a chirp-n-search mission. 8)

Hey, Reg...

I had to go have my Scion serviced today, and while I was there one of the sales guys chirped a Highlander a few times, and I asked the bunch that were standing there if it could be turned off...

I got a resounding "NO!"

They don't like 'em, either...
