Speedometer Tacho Signal, Toyota Avensis Lean Burn 1.8, year 2000

Hi,

Have just bought a GPS Radio, so now I need to know where I find the speedometer tacho signal.

I found one on the net saying "black connector, on the back of the dashboard, pin 15", but that one didn't do it.

Anyone having a better idea?

Thanks in advance

Are you looking for the speedometer signal or the tachometer signal?

Sorry, the speedometer signal of course ;-)

I do not have a wiring diagram for the Avensis, but if you look at the main and tracer colors for the wires coming out of the speed sensor on the transmission, it should follow all the way to the back of the instrument cluster. You can do a continuity check to confirm.

Ok, I'll give it a try ;-), and should it be split somewhere and change color, the continuity still is a good idea, there is only 40 sockets in each connector, so I'll find it.

Thanks..

Harry

I'm think the speed sensor signal goes from the speed sensor to the instrument cluster and then from the instrument cluster to the ECU. Good luck!

I had hooked up to the pink wire, black connector socket 15 on the dashboard, and that one is also coming from the speed sensor... but there are two more wires, one going to ground and a blue one going to the black connector socket 5 on the dashboard.... that's correct one.

The reverse signal can be found inside the cabin at RH side in a connector just next to the ECU as a red/black wire.

The radio type: Blaupunkt TravelPilot E1.

Thanks to Ray for the hints ;-)
