Does anyone have experience purchasing a Toyota from an authorized dealer in Madrid? I found a list of Toyota dealers here:

I sure someone in Madrid does...

We don't get a lot of traffic in here from Spain, but welcome!

The common problems found buying from US dealers are probably found world-wide, so keep your eyes open:

  • - Dealer-supplied financing that is way overpriced so the dealer can skim some more profits off you - or they ask "How much do you want to pay per month" and don't tell you what the interest rate even is.

(Check with your own bank or credit union for true and competitive interest rate and payment information.)

  • - Trying to steer you to a lease rather than purchase - they can make more money on a lease, even if it isn't right for you.
  • - Dealer or Distributor added accessories that aren't worth the price, but "we can't get the car without those accessories, they all come from the factory with it."
  • - "Extended Warranty Plans" from unscrupulous outside insurance companies that have loopholes you can sail an ocean liner through - the problems you have are never covered. Or they delay you for a month or more to get a claims inspector out to inspect the car before work can begin, hoping you'll give up and fix it first - but then you "destroyed the evidence the adjuster needed to see - DENIED."

Seems that 'electrical related failures' aren't covered - and almost every single system on your car has at least one electrical component they can blame as the cause. That one always gives them an easy out.

And if too many people have problems that actually are covered, they go bankrupt (and run with the money) if too many claims actually start to get through the screening (and denial) process.

(The Toyota backed extended warranty plans are rock solid and good coverage with few loopholes, but the dealers still try to triple the wholesale price to pad the bottom line. Bargain, bargain, bargain.)

Thanks everyone for your replies. In case anyone needs it later, the full list of Toyota dealers in Madrid, including the ones that offer service and repairs can be found at
