1991 Camry rear brakes (disc pads)

I changed the wifes front brake pads with no problems at all. Went to change the rear pads (all four disc brakes) and it seems like the pads are to think (maybe wrong part but they sure seem like the same). It is a 91 V6 DX. The new pads are .381" thick. The pad that sits closest to the piston seems to be fine. It is the one that is opposite the piston that is looking "way" to thick. The caliper assembly will not fit back over the rotor. I am sure it is 1 of 2 things. Either I got the wrong part or I am just not doing something correctly and I can't figure it out. HELP ;-(

Did you compress the piston prior to reinstalling the caliper onto the rotor?

DAMN! You can do that! I'd still be married if I knew that!

Now for a serious reply: did you have the parking brake on?

Also, Nissan does this, but Toyota generally *doesn't*: if the piston has what looks like X, for a Super-Sized phillips head, you have to find something that will fit the groove and *turn* the piston in. Of course, they make a $50 tool for this, but if you have a massive flat head screwdriver you can use that. I've seen these on Nissans and Hondas, but not on Toys. If it is this type *DON"T TRY TO COMPRESS IT!!!*
